So you want to pass the Arise cruise line client direct sales certification course? We have information on this blog that you should read.

UPDATED FEBRUARY 2016!!! – There has been A MAJOR change to the Arise cruise line direct sales certification course since we published this blog. Not sure if was just for this last WAVE, but I will post the change anyway to show that as an IBO I am keeping up!!

Disclaimer: We will not disclose the name of the actual cruise line that we are giving the tips for on this website. You should be able to figure out which one only if you already have access to the Arise portal. It’s the one where top sales agents earns up to $18.00/hour and is probably the most profitable of all of the Arise clients.

(OH, and if you came here thinking there will be answers to the tests, sorry..no.)

First off, you ask..why do I need help to pass the Arise cruise line direct sales certification class?

Well, I’m an Arise IBO and have been since 2009. I have over a dozen active CSP’s that are servicing several Arise clients, mostly the telecommunication ones, the roadside assistance ones, etc. Earlier in 2015 Arise lost its biggest telecommunication client, (those of you in Arise know which one I’m talking about.)

Before they lost that client I had over 20 active CSPs servicing that program! Of the ones that stayed with me after they ended around May 2015, four of them have gone through the Arise Cruise Line Direct Sales Certification client.

Out of those four, two of them made it. One dropped out and the last one of them SHOULD have made it. It is that reason that I started this website. Her name is “Leigh” and she and another one of my CSP’s “Debbie” went through the Arise Cruise Line Direct Sales Certification classes that started in August and September 2015.

The coursework is intensive, but very manageable. But there is something VERY IMPORTANT that Arise does not tell you about the Cruise Line direct sales certification course. If Leigh had known this, she would not have not wasted almost a month of class training, a week of independent study time, approximately $300 on new equipment, course fees, time spent taking a drug test and another four days of live call taking only to be told that she WOULD NOT be able to service the Cruise Line client!

I saw one of my best CSP’s breakdown in tears over all the time and money wasted. Leigh is an excellent sales person that has won one numerous sales awards with several other Arise clients while working for me. It was devastating and even Debbie, who passed, couldn’t believe it!

I had to do something because I don’t want anyone else to suffer like one of my best CSP’s. If anyone is planning on doing the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course, please take a few moments to read these posts and BE PREPARED so that you will know what to do. I don’t guarantee that you will pass of course, but you will be much better prepared after reading this! Pass this on to other IBO’s and CSP’s that may be taking the Cruise Line direct sales course.

You’ve signed up and paid and have access to the Cruise Line direct sales certification pre-work and stuff. Now what?

Do you sit and wait for class? You’d better not! Both Debbie and Leigh agree that if you want to pass the Cruise Line direct sales certification course you have to start studying IMMEDIATELY!

They will give you access to the materials and you need to learn about EVERY SHIP in that Cruise Line as much as you can from their website. True enough, there is knowledge aid that you will have access to when you are introduced to the system, (we won’t disclose the name of it), but don’t wait for that! You really need to prepare. Don’t go in the first day of class without looking at the coursework and knowing about the Cruise Line. Get on their website! Look at the modules! Even CALL the sales line yourself and pretend to book a cruise to see how they do it!

I know what you’re thinking..this is common sense, right? Everyone should do that. It’s nothing special in your tips. WRONG! Let’s look at the MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENT that you will receive when you sign up for the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course!!!

Oh, wait..you probably don’t have it yet. You probably won’t have it until the first FEW DAYS OR EVEN THE NIGHT BEFORE CLASS! This is why this information is important. You need to get your head in the game as soon as you have access to the learning materials. Learn about the Cruise Line as much as you can. Especially the ships. You will learn the systems in class, but learn about the ships and the cabins, the different cruise packages and the many amenities as soon as possible.

The MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENT you will receive will arrive a few days, if not the night before class starts!

No, it’s not the link for the drug test, or the system requirements, yadda yadda yadda. It’s your WELCOME LETTER from your course instructor! THIS WILL EXPLAIN THE 4 STEPS TO CERTIFICATION!! (Hopefully).

Let me tell you what Debbie and Leigh wished they’d known. Remember, Debbie passed but she said it was because she had a good Cruise Line employee coach that helped her! The same would not be for Leigh, but more on that later on…

Update: Leigh told me that her welcome letter was different from Debbie, (they had different instructors), and did not outline the FOUR STEPS TO CERTIFICATION. Leigh wouldn’t even learn about the FOUR STEPS TO CERTIFICATION until the first night of class! YIKES!

Every Arise client instructor sends out a welcome letter outlining the course and introducing themselves, but this one from the Cruise Line direct sales certification is much more important and well, somewhat different from other Arise clients that I’ve had my CSP’s service.

THE FOUR STEPS TO CERTIFICATION IN THE ARISE CRUISE LINE DIRECT SALES CERTIFICATION COURSE!

The welcome letter gives the course schedule which includes the 4 hour class times. It also mentions that you will have to (STEP ONE) complete all the coursework on the site and pass all the tests. (Both Debbie and Leigh passed all the tests! Leigh made 100% on all on the exams without re-taking them even once.)

Next, it mentions (STEP TWO) pass the FINAL EXAM. Both Debbie and Leigh made 100% on the FINAL EXAM on the FIRST TRY!

Next is (STEP THREE) which is 3 – 4 mock calls that you have to pass from the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification team. These are people from ARISE that you have to impress to get your CERTIFICATION from ARISE for the COURSE!

ONCE AGAIN, these are people that work the Cruise Line client from ARISE that you have to impress on your mock calls! AGAIN THESE ARE PEOPLE FROM ARISE!!!! (In other words, other IBO’s and CSP’s that have been with the Cruise Line client for a while!)

Both Debbie and Leigh PASSED their mock calls! They had 100% on all tests they took and PASSED the mock call session! They both received emails from ARISE that said that they had PASSED the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course! Yay, right?

They were both able to pick hours that they wanted to work and started taking live calls! I approved their statement of work and they were ready to go!

Update: Debbie did not book a cruise her first few days, (now I hear that she has booked at least three!! You go Debbie!)

Leigh actually BOOKED A CRUISE HER VERY FIRST NIGHT ON THE PHONES!! By her third day she had booked THREE! She’s an excellent sales agent and I knew she could do it!

stopsign

Wait..wait..this doesn’t make sense does it? Leigh didn’t make it, right? How could she not make it? You just said she passed all the tests at 100% and the mock calls and got on the phones and was booking cruises her first night?!! How did she not make it?

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW! There is a (STEP FOUR) to the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course! Debbie, and especially Leigh had no idea what was going to happen next! But YOU will know and be PREPARED! Get READY for the REAL FIGHT!

boxing

STEP FOUR IS REALLY WHAT YOU ARE TRAINING FOR THE WHOLE TIME YOU ARE IN CLASS! Not the MOCK CALLS or ARISE CERTIFICATION!!

It’s ALL or NOTHING from here! Step FOUR is ALL THAT MATTERS!

See, the Arise team on the Cruise Line direct sales certification client doesn’t tell you this: (If they do, then its not enough). You can spend all of your time doing all of the exams and learning the systems and never miss 1 day of class. You can pass those mock calls, get a certification email, pick your class hours, sign your statement of work or have your IBO sign it and have it ACTIVATED. Heck, you can even book a cruise for the Cruise line client on the first night taking live calls and…

NONE OF THAT WILL MATTER IF YOU DO NOT PASS STEP FOUR!

What is STEP FOUR of the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course? You may not learn about until class, or you may get lucky enough to learn about on your welcome email.

Step Four is THREE CALLS that will be pulled once you start working for the Cruise Line client by EMPLOYEES of the Cruise Line client ITSELF!!

business-team-of-three-employees-standing-in-boxing-pose

This is where the CRUISE LINE direct sales certification course differs from the other Arise clients that I have had CSP’s work for.

With other Arise clients once you are CERTIFIED after mock calls and get access to pick your hours and sign your statement of work..you’re good. You’re done! That’s what Debbie and Leigh thought. This is SO NOT TRUE with the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course.

Debbie and Leigh were assigned “coaches” from the Cruise Line client for that week that they call NESTING. They both thought that their coaches where there to give them tips on what you can do to succeed with the contract. (I did too). We were wrong. Debbie was the lucky one..she got a guy that saw what she was doing wrong on the phone calls and helped her out. Leigh, was NOT lucky at all….

UPDATED FEBRUARY 2016! HERE IS THE CHANGE THAT HAPPENED WITH THE LAST WAVE. INSTEAD OF THE  CRUISE LINE CLIENT EMPLOYEES BEING ASSIGNED, THEY SWITCHED IT TO HAVING THE ARISE PF’S SEND THREE OF YOUR CALLS TO THE CRUISE LINE CLIENT FOR APPROVAL!! THIS WAS A PHENOMENAL CHANGE AND IT MADE IT MUCH MORE EASIER ON THE CSP’S!! I’M HOPING THAT THIS CONTINUES THROUGH FUTURE WAVES BUT IF IT DOES..BRAVO!!

HAVING THE ARISE PF’S CHOOSE THE THREE CALLS ASSURES THE CSP THAT ONLY THE BEST CALLS WILL BE CHOSEN TO BE SUBMITTED. THE CRUISE LINE EMPLOYEES COULD..AND SOMETIMES WERE BIASED AND TOO HARSH ON THE CSP’S AND SOME GREAT REPS..LIKE LEIGH.GOT PASSED OVER!!

I’VE HAD SOME PEOPLE ASK IF THIS BLOG HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM CHANGING UP..I’D LIKE TO HOPE THAT IT DID BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER. FOR THOSE OF YOU SERVICING NOW WHEN THERE ARE MUCHO HOURS..GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOUR CHECKS!!!

THE SPAWN OF PIT BULL AND ROSIE PEREZ ON A BROOKLYN SUBWAY!

UPDATED FEBRUARY 2016! YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS AS THE LAST WAVE WAS SAVED!! BUT READ ON ANYWAY JUST IN CASE THEY SWITCH IT BACK UP!

This is where things get ugly, both here and in the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course for Leigh. As I mentioned Debbie got a guy. If you get a guy, or one of the other women, you are lucky. They will help you to succeed in Step Four and THEN, you will REALLY be CERTIFIED.

However, if you are unfortunate as Leigh was and your Cruise Line employee is a woman whose voice sounds like Pit Bull (the singer) and Rosie Perez had a baby on a Brooklyn Subway..you are in deep trouble! I hope you studied the heck out of those ships and cabins and know where they are on the ship! Trust me, you need to know!

Trouble-Ahead

You are in deep trouble of losing all of your money and time if you don’t know what to do at STEP FOUR!

This is the Cruise Line employee that you pray that you do not get for Step Four! She is very cocky and arrogant and likes to unprofessionally brag about how she trained most of the people that work for Arise on the Cruise Line direct sales certification course! Most of your session with her will be her bragging about that. It’s highly unprofessional and when Leigh put her on the speakerphone and I heard how she was talking to the people, I had a negative view of the Cruise Line because of her.

Leigh only had time to take a few calls before she met with the Cruise Line employee, whom we’ll called “Brooklyn lady” just because of the analogy I made above. As I mentioned she booked three cruises in that time when some people did not book any!

Brooklyn lady tells YOU WHAT TIME you will meet with her for Step Four. You don’t get a choice. Leigh had to leave work early just to make one of her sessions that Brooklyn lady was late for! In fact, she is ALMOST ALWAYS late! Leigh’s classes Edmodo page is FULL OF her classmates stating that she doesn’t answer emails and is LATE!!

(She even called Leigh and her classmates while she was on freeway on the way home and they had to waste TWO MORE HOURS waiting for her! I’m telling you..listen for that VOICE, and if its her..try to get someone else at all costs!)

Remember that you do NOT get to choose your time to met for these sessions. If you have another job or children to pick up – tough cookies unless you can be flexible. I’m preparing you now so you will know because your Arise instructor may not tell you!

Wow, I was with Leigh during two of the sessions with her and I was about to throw up at her arrogance. She even made a statement saying to them saying “You work for me! I decide whether you get to your PF or not!”

(I was appalled. News flash, Brooklyn lady..we don’t work for YOU. We are contracted through Arise to work for the Cruise Line that, for some reason, still has you employed in this capacity?!! What arrogance!)

Brooklyn lady pulled one of Leigh’s phone calls and played it for the group she had. Leigh is a salesperson and if it does not sound like that person is serious about buying after the second objection, she will end the phone call if its taking a long time. Brooklyn lady wasn’t happy that she did not keep drilling this customer, even though she had no intention of booking.

One call that Brooklyn lady praised was from an agent that spent 90 minutes on the phone call! Ninety minutes! Are you serious? So to pass, apparently don’t focus on the sale but the presentation. You have to tell the customer about the ship and the location of the cabin and just keep talking and talking! There is a process that they want you to go through and Brooklyn lady will not tell you if you are doing something wrong or if she is not going to pass you…

Yes, I said PASS YOU! So, even though you have “passed” the entire ARISE course and got their certification congratulation email, if the Cruise Line employees like Brooklyn lady don’t like your THREE calls, you have WASTED all of your time!

bench_sitting

You’ll miss the “boat”, (hint: never say “boat” in that class), if you don’t follow that script and know your ships!

Steps One through Three matter – but they really don’t! They are just training you for the fight you will have at Step Four when you get your Cruise line employee coach!

BUT, SUPPOSE I’M STUCK WITH BROOKLYN LADY?

First off, I feel for you. But all is not lost because you have her. I’ll play Devil’s Advocate for a minute. Now even though I KNOW Brooklyn lady did NOT do the right thing by not passing Leigh, I partially agree with her on Leigh’s second call. Leigh gave the customer incorrect information without looking it up first. You cannot do that EVER but especially not in Step Four! Especially with Brooklyn lady! They want you to use that knowledge base like crazy on every call if you don’t know something. So its best to study it and make bookmarks, etc. Tell the customer, “Let me look that up for you to make sure..” etc and pull up that knowledge base they give you.

On that second call, which still ended in a booking of course, Brooklyn lady did not like that Leigh did that. Instead of coaching her, she BASHED her and said that she was “cutting corners” and “not taking the course seriously”. WHATT?? Brooklyn lady, she booked the cruise! Also, why not just instruct her like a real coach does! I’m sure she is not the ONLY one that’s ever done that! I’m telling you, if you get Brooklyn lady, you may end up wasting your time on this course unless you know about those ships and the different cruise packages and what to tell the customer!

Also very important! Location, location, location! Know those cabins on each ship as much as you can and don’t worry about spending time on the phone telling the customer about them and asking for the sale over and over again. Use “How does that sound?” or “Does that sound good to you?” after you go over the location and the cruise packages!

Cruise Line Lost A Great Sales Agent and Customer

CANCEL MY RESERVATION. DON’T END UP LIKE LEIGH AND WASTE YOUR TIME.

Leigh had booked a cruise for herself and mother on the Cruise Line during her class, but quickly canceled it after all of her hard work went for nothing on the Arise Cruise Line direct sales certification course and will not sail with them ever. It was big loss for all involved.

Leigh did not even get another phone call reviewed from Brooklyn lady. She made the decision to strip her from her “certification” given to her by Arise without listening to another phone call.

Leigh was too concerned with her handle time and making the sale. Don’t be concerned with that during Step Four. It makes no sense, but according to what happened to her, Cruise Line cares more about those scripts that they give you then making the sale. They PASSED a person with a 90-minute call, and a 60-minute call and not a person with a shorter call and 3 booked cruises!?

Talk to the customer and follow their script and if you get the horrible spawn of Pit Bull (the singer) and Rosie Perez on a Brooklyn subway as your Cruise Line “coach”:

A. Don’t expect any coaching, at least not from Brooklyn lady. Debbie and another CSP said that the other coaches will at least work with you to help you succeed. Brooklyn lady tells you how no one gets a pass through her without doing this, or that..and doesn’t care if you make the sale or not as long as you give a good location presentation and know your packages and constantly ask for the sale.

B. You have to change your schedule to match hers. Yep, they don’t tell you that. Better yet, you may want to try to request another coach by saying that you can’t meet hers. If you’re lucky they will change you!

C. Brooklyn lady likes to know that you know the ship when you talk to the customer. So, in that time of studying please learn as much about the ships and the cabins as possible, especially where they are located on the ship, how many to a cabin, etc. She will ask you a question like how many decks to a ship, etc so know it. (Note: Most ships are like hotels and don’t have a deck 13, remember that!) If you don’t know something, use that knowledgebase! Don’t rely on memory or guessing. Brooklyn lady won’t show mercy.

D. Don’t worry about your phone time if you get her. Leigh said that two people that passed had phone calls 60 minutes and 90 minutes..(which to me is ABSURB for salesperson with ATT metrics, but they passed and Leigh did not..so….)

E. Learn about the cruise packages and always offer the customer the one that is on sale or most talk about in the direct sales chatroom.

OUR FINAL TIPS!

you-can-do-it

Our final tips for passing the Cruise Line direct sales certification course:

  • Please make sure that you go through all the coursework materials well BEFORE and DURING your class.

  • Visit the Cruise Line website and learn about the ships and cabins well BEFORE and DURING your class.

  • Call the Cruise Line sales number yourself and talk with an agent. Pretend you are booking a cruise and listen to their presentation.

  • Take advantage of the study groups and breakout sessions and inform your fellow CSP’s about how important STEP FOUR is before time.

  • Give them a heads-up about Brooklyn lady and what she is looking for on the calls!……AND…..

  • Remember that the class, the exams, the mock calls you pass and that “certification” email that you get from the Arise working for the Cruise Line doesn’t mean DIDDLY SQUAT if you don’t impress the Cruise Line employees with the THREE CALLS in STEP FOUR!

Good luck to you and I wish you well in passing the Arise Cruise line direct sales certification course.

Sincerely,

An Arise IBO.
